Safety and preservation of capital

When considering the price to pay for shares, it is not how much you pay that matters; rather, it is how safe your money is.

There are many ways to work out when to enter the market and when to exit. They all have one thing in common: an exit strategy when the market goes against you. Most ways involve selling the shares at a (small) loss, thus recovering most of the capital for the next trade.

Before you even enter the market, consider what you must do, or are prepared to do, when the market goes against you.
